When I highlighted the CouchSurfing network a few weeks ago, Rob of The EcuaTraveler.com asked if I was aware of any other similar sites. Until today, my answer was “no.”
I just learned of GlobalFreeloaders.com, which has some positive testimonials posted on the front page and a definite following (from 15,000+ people registered in the USA, to 2 in Yemen), however seems less developed than CouchSurfing.com. For example, there are Google Ads on the FAQ page, and Michael Moore’s web site listed under Links (“This man is my idol. He reminds me that one man *can* make a difference.”).
Has anyone heard of GlobalFreeloaders, or used it to obtain free accomodations? If so, please share with a comment.

On FOX News this morning (6-27-07), there was a short interview with a man who talked re “Getting a Days Work DoneIn 4 Hours” In the interview, this man told the viewers that he travels a lot and uses GlobalFreeloaders.com and two other sites. Go to Fox News web page and see the interview.
I didn’t find the recent video, however there was an article in the Business section from Nov 2006 which mentioned two other sites that are new to me…
hospitalityclub.org (apparently a big one with 200,000+ people)
place2stay.net
couchsurfing.com
globalfreeloaders.com

Is there more services like this? I was trying to find them on Google and found any suitable keyword to find it. What common keyword would you use to look for these sites?
I haven’t been looking for them in terms of keywords, however I believe it’s safe to say the 4 sites I mentioned above as part of the Fox News article are tops. Personally, I’m sticking with Couchsurfing as I think the design is the best.
