Yesterday morning was my last visit to the dentist in relation to the dental implant process I had begun 5 months earlier. He made sure the crown fit, glued it on, filed down my upper molar a bit to ensure I had an even bite, and (literally) cut and hammered off a metal brace I had on my opposing upper molar to keep it from falling out. I probably had that brace in there for about 10 years (all of which were spent putting off the implant).
Unfortunately, my crown has a mostly metal surface (which came as a surprise today). The explanation was something about not having enough room to add the natural tooth color veneer (because my bite would be uneven). At least I didn’t have to pay anything for the darn visit this time! It feels like the past 5 months have flown by. I’m glad the whole process is complete, and I’m paid in full.
I have one more routine cleaning scheduled before I leave the country. It’s on the same day I scheduled a routine vision exam, October 3. I had LASIK done 7 years ago, and I’ve seen some mentions of potential problems at high altitudes, so I want to talk to my doctor about it.
Before I left the dentist’s office, I gave them one of my Moo cards with my blog address. Since I ordered them last Spring, I’ve yet to give one out to someone who doesn’t find them super cool!
