Been there (not with couchsurfing.com, without a room though due to book-ups) and it sucks. Glad that you worked it out alright, and that you were able to find a place to sleep. Especially comparing it to the weather we have here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Right now it's 11 degrees below zero with a wind chill of 29 degrees below. The beach is awfully beautiful (and clean) though, so it's all good.
