Dare #11 – Failed – Ride The Roof Of An Indian Train

Indian train station

#11 – From Stefan:

Here’s a new dare for $20…take a ride on the roof of a train in India.

Reward: $20

Status: Failed

I must admit defeat with regard to this dare. I don’t have a choice….the beaches of Thailand are calling.

I only saw people on a train rooftop once, and never saw the opportunity arise for anyone at the stations I visited. Maybe it’s more common in the south, on local routes, or in more remote regions of the country.

don't sweat it dave...i wouldn't have done it myself for less than a $100
  • I believe this is the first dare you've given up on... so kudos to you for your great batting average so far!

You could always train hop in the US...

Don't be too bummed. i'm sure your insurance carrier is quite happy that this dare went unanswered.

    On an unrelated note...

Now that you're moving on to another country, I think we're all due for a reflective update: expectations vs reality, budget vs spending, itinerary vs actual route, highlights, disappointments, y'know the same questions I always ask  . It has been awhile so I hope I'm forgiven for the pestering.
  • Yep, it had been awhile but the daily costs for India were all calculated, so that info is up to date. Everything is still going as planned, though the reality of not having enough money to see as much of Africa, Europe, South and North America is creeping into my consciousness more and more.
