The language barrier wasn't an issue in the islands and Bangkok. I mean taxi drivers and hotel staff might not speak much English, but a few smiles or points and you'll be fine. Usually they call over someone who speaks better English if they can't understand you. I have heard many good things about Thailand, so I thought this would be a good place to spend my first trip.
