Here is a quick look at Tehran, Iran. At first glance it can come across as a polluted, traffic-infested, mess. However, with a little exploration and some locals to show you the way, the city reveals some amazing places.
If Medellin is off the tourist map, then Tehran is in a parallel tourist universe. I do know of one person who traveled there recently, and had no troubles (Cameron, Australia), while another of my friends (Charlie, China) is eying it for the future. As for me, I can safely say I’d rather hit the beaches of Brazil and the mountains of Peru before heading back to the Middle East.

Yeah, probably for the best.
If I’m not mistaken, Iran makes it a hassle for Americans to visit their country. You have to have a hired “guide” with you at all times.
