Hi Blake,

Since I didn't make it to Kenya myself, I can't answer your questions, however I'd recommend posting them in the Kenya forum over at www.bootsnall.com

I have a hunch the answers to your questions are yes and yes. :)

Hey! Thanks for your reflections on Kenya. My wife and I are planning for a RTW trip next year starting in 6/2010 and Kenya has always been on our radar. That part of the world was left off our last RTW trip because of price and security.

Can Kenya and/or the lake Victoria region, be done well on the cheap? Is is safe to travel by local transport?

Blake
thedriftingduo.com/blakesjourney

Thanks for offering this update. I knew the information was on the old side, however hoped it could still give people a feel for what's on offer in Kenya. I hope to make it there someday myself!

This information is very out of date.

The African Heritage closed some years ago and Alan Bobbie's Bistro is no longer in central Nairobi, but in the suburb of Riverside.

The hotel mentioned here is the "680" not the "68".

For good international cuisine in Nairobi, try Tamambo, Mediterraneo, Le Rustique, Tamarind, Angithi, Osteria Del Chianti, Indigo Spice, Habesha (Ethiopian) or just ask local advice- the restaurant scene changes a lot.
