Save Money on UK Airport Parking

When it comes to airport parking, I always figured drivers don’t have a choice about how much they have to pay.  They drive to the airport, parks their cars, and accept the posted rates.

Case closed, right?

Not quite.  As I found out recently, there are companies like Holiday Extras which offer travelers a choice, and it can save them a lot of money.

Holiday Extras offers discounted rates for parking at all 26 major airports in the United Kingdom, including Gatwick and Heathrow near London.  In 2008, they handled over 1.2 million bookings for airport parking throughout the UK, illustrating a clear demand for the service, and recognition of the value they deliver.

The website is cheerful, and easy to use.  Underneath the main search box is a horizontal navigation bar which includes all the information you need to consider when booking your airport parking in advance.

The Money Saving Tips help to educate consumers, and includes the Price Guarantee offered by Holiday Extras.  It states they’ll give you free parking if you find a cheaper rate within 24 hours of pre-booking with them.  Since they check their competition’s pricing daily, I imagine consumers don’t call upon this guarantee very often.

A price guide lays out the costs for On-airport, Off-airport, and Meet and Greet options.  The Meet and Greet option is ideal for large families, or anyone transporting unwieldy luggage, such as a skis or surfboards.  A driver meets you at the terminal to collect your car before you depart, and then when you return, the car will be brought to you.

My background is in customer service, so I’m always on the lookout for such information when reviewing a site.  Holiday Extras reports a 99.88% customer satisfaction rate, and their call center was recognized as one of the UK’s top ten in 2009.

Over one million bookings are made each year through Holiday Extras for Manchester airport parking, Gatwick parking, and many others, yet they’ve managed to keep a great sense of humor about their business.  Several videos are embedded on the site, and I’ve included my favorite below for your entertainment.

Caution:  Video contains male nudity and classic British humor.  You’ve been warned!
