Barcelona beach in January

Barcelona beach in January

Visiting Europe on my ’round the world trip, I was trying to catch up with some popular spots I missed my first time around back in 1998.  Switzerland was one, and Spain was the other.

Barcelona kept me busy with Gaudi’s buildings and Picasso’s art.  The beaches were almost empty, however I found plenty of people at the FC Barcelona soccer match I attended.

Great shot! It can be cold in Barcelona in the winter, so I'm not surprised that no one was at the gorgeous beaches. ;)

We love Barcelona and have been there 10 times on our open ended world tour, usually staying a month every time. We have a favorite luxury campground there that we usually stay at for as little as eleven euros a night ( with 3 pools, including an indoor one with sauna & Jacuzzi).

It's also a great location to take the overnight ferry to Rome or Genoa which we often do.

As much as we love Barcelona and the nearby gorgeous Costa Blanca & Pyrenees, I hope you also got to southern Spain as I think Andalusia is the real Spain and fantastic plus warm in the winter. ;)

I haven't been to southern Spain……yet. I only had a week so Barca and Madrid were first.

The location of the hotel was ideal right in the heart of Barcelona.
