Photo Essay: Eastern Orthodox Churches

Many parts of Romania contain incredibly ornate Eastern Orthodox Churches.   These are especially prevalent in Bucharest.  The churches I visited were typically open to the public during normal business hours and most of them did not mind if pictures were taken, which I gladly participated in.   However, most of the churches are very dimly lit and flash photography is not allowed, so be prepared with the proper equipment if you desire such pictures.

I thought we’d seen amazing frescoes in Cappadocia in Turkey but these are just stunning!

I was amazed at how detailed, ornate, and colorful they were. I was hoping my pictures would do them justice, as most of the time it was rather dark in there.
