4,000 Islands, Laos

Kids at play on one of the 4,000 islands in southern Laos.

Photography posts became a permanent fixture in Go Backpacking’s weekly schedule this year.

It began when Troy started sharing his portrait photos and interviews from the Faces Around the World series, and evolved into photo essays every Thursday.  More recently, I’ve been digging through my personal archives for a single “photo favorite” posted each Sunday.

Here are the top 13 photography posts based on visits in 2010:

  1. Sexy Colombian Models – by Troy Floyd
  2. Winter Street Scenes in Bern
  3. My Favorite Cups of Coffee
  4. The 4,000 Islands of Laos
  5. The White Temple of Chiang Rai, Thailand – by Troy Floyd
  6. Pyramids & Temples of Egypt
  7. Lake Homes of Pablo Escobar & Family
  8. Cricket in South Africa
  9. Dingo Warning Sign
  10. The Colorful Streets of Cartagena
  11. Delhi Architecture
  12. The Greek Islands – by Emily Starbuck Gerson
  13. Daily Life at Boudhanath Stupa

If you’d like to share a sample of your best travel photography in 2011, please check out the submission guidelines.

Tomorrow, I’ll wrap-up this week’s Best Of 2010 series with the most popular videos featured on Go Backpacking.

That picture of the children in Laos captures exactly what is so great about that country…

Thanks Danny — there was a lot to like about Laos, but mostly, I just left thinking they’re the most relaxed people on the planet.
