Video: DR Congo

DR CONGO. from Ricky Norris on Vimeo.

This is a raw vignette that I cut immediately after having shot and experienced a small amount of time in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2009.

This piece is very personal to me. I find it hard to explain with words the great darkness and even greater beauty that you experience in such a place. I will never forget the people I have had the privilege to meet in Congo. They are apart of me.

This footage is part of a documentary about two child soldiers, currently in post production produced by Discover the Journey. Find out more at www.DTJ.org

Ricky, powerful video. I lived in Northern DRC, when it was known as Zaire, for 4 years as a child. We left the country when the war started up sometime in 1994 – 1995. This video really brought back some memories from the past. I still have some very close Congolese friends. I enjoyed this video a lot!
